Here, a miniaturized wireless sensing vaginal ring for the in situ continuous monitoring of pH and real-time transmission data to smartphone is reported, aimed at diagnosis management bacterial vaginosis, common condition frequently adversely affecting women. The consists bioresorbable fluorescence sensor placed on top polydimethylsiloxane encapsulating driving/readout optoelectronic circuit, acquisition system, transceiver, power supply. micrometer-thick porous silica scaffold conformably coated with nanometer-thick polymer multilayer stack intended be replaced after 4 days. fully dissolves biocompatible by-products eliminating waste issues; conversely, embedding circuit reusable new sensors. sensor, as well ring, show excellent performance measurement fluid can monitor level over physio-pathological range 3–7.5 high linearity, accuracy, reliability, transmitting real time. proposed technology immediately translated other diseases, among which wound healing, intragastric activity, cancer progression, where required, markers/analytes by engineering suitable receptors, such aptamers molecular probes.
